About the Pacific Arctic Group (PAG)
The Pacific Arctic Group (PAG) is a loose confederacy of institutes
and individuals having a Pacific perspective on Arctic science.
Organized under the International Arctic Science Committee, the
PAG has the mission to serve as a Pacific Arctic regional partnership
to plan, coordinate, and collaborate on science activities of mutual
interest. We propose the creation of a Project Office to assist
in identifying, promoting, and facilitating the science activities
of the PAG. We further propose to establish and manage the Secretariat
Office to provide administrative support of PAG activities.
The mission of the PAG is to serve as a Pacific Arctic regional
partnership to plan, coordinate, and collaborate on science activities
of mutual interst.
Goals:
- Identify gaps in knowledge and priority research needs across
the Pacific Arctic Region and seek means to implement programmes
and activities that address them
- Facilitate and coordinate science operations among PAG member
countries and communicate with FARO.
- Promote and facilitate data accessibility and integrated data
bases for the region
- Serve as a forum for information exchange on Pacific Arctic
Region (PAR) science programmes
- Establish and maintain a direct link between PAR and other relevant
science organisations.
Terms of Reference:
- Participants - Individuals and organisation from IASC member
countries with a Pacific perspective on Arctic science.
- Elected leadership - report to IASC, AOSB and other relevant
Arctic science organisations, and communicate with PAR participants.
- Annual meeting during ASSW, other meetings as needed.
