NOAA Arctic Research Office Science Interests

Development of comprehensive NOAA program of Arctic science that focuses on climate variability and change; marine ecosystem productivity; and contaminant transport and effects. The NOAA Arctic program will include observation, modeling, applications, data management and outreach. There are regional and hemispheric aspects to the primary Arctic science issues, requiring Interagency and international collaboration to resolve them. Current activities include initiation of the interagency Study of Environmental Arctic Change (SEARCH), and representing the United States on the Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Working Group of the Arctic Council.
